UNRIPE
Our SS22 collection 'UNRIPE' is inspired by rare photographs capturing the manor farms of 19th centura Hungary, an era characterized by the agricultural environment and interdependent relationship of peasants and landowners.
UNRIPE explores the notion of collective consciousness in a world defined by its ever-accelerating pace. The collection takes us into the bursting green surroundings of workers on the land finding ways to connect through stories and songs bringing back never-lived memories. Rushing through life decades and hundreds of years later, our surroundings might blur in a hurried haze, but the heritage of community lives on in our longing to belong.
The motifs running through the collection are an imprint of the past reinterpreted for the future. The screen-printed and wood grain patterns; raised honeycomb fabrics; horn buttons and zip pullers; scarves reminiscent of workwear headkerchiefs and modern takes on ubiquitous peasant costumes bring fragments of the past into the urban designs. The resting bird, the eagle striking a hare and the circle patterns draw parallels between nature and people echoing the circle of life itself. Colours of unripe pears, flourishing green hues, cool greys and muted earth tones weave through the collection offset by the crisp contrast of black and white. The decades-old tapestry fabrics of the REMADE collection paint a vivid image of opulent nature with ornate floral prints and applique, further exploring the harmony and contrast coexisting between the past and present.
